Sushmita Sen serves notice by BMC! Read Why? : The former Miss Universe(1994) and famous Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen face some unusual problems recently when mosquito breeding spots were found at her residence. The 40-year-old actress was served with a civic body notice by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) last Friday; BMC officials were trying to inspect the star’s house for a few days but were frequently turned down due to her absence. Afterwards, she asked the officials to carry out their inspection on Friday on which they followed, and three spots of mosquito breeding were found at her home.
The star occupies the top most floor and terrace of the residential building in suburban Khar area. Her frequent absence due to the busy schedule might be the reason for such a mistake. And she might face some consequences as the result of her ignorance towards such a heightened issue that is affecting a lot of cities these days.
This issue was further elaborated by Rajan Naringrekar, the senior insecticide officer at MCGM (The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) as he stated to the media, “We have issued a notice to her(the actress), under section 381b of the MMC Act, which means that she could be prosecuted. The metropolitan magistrate can levy a fine of up to Rs 10,000 to 20,000.” He then further added that during the inspection, the team of insecticides department detected three locations at her penthouse where the larvae of Aedes Aegypti mosquito were found, the first location was on the terrace inside the tarpaulin; the second one was the odd articles on the terrace and the last one was the rain water collected in the gallery area. The Aedes Aegypti mosquito is quite a harmful insect and is the reason for some fatal diseases like dengue and chikungunya, the diseases which are terrorising and are their peak these days in many cities especially the capital; Delhi.
On 16 September, the same kind of circumstances were seen at actor Shahid Kapoor‘s residence at Juhu Tara Road, when the MGMC detected the same kind (Aedes Aegypti) of mosquitoes breeding at his residential premises during their inspection. The actor is going to face similar problems as a notice has been served to him too under the same section.
On an interesting note, the homes of top five most senior IAS officers have also been found to be breeding with Aedes Aegypti mosquito by the insecticide department of MGMC. But when asked about the actions to be taken against these IAS officers, the MGMC officials responded by saying that as these officers have themselves requested the civic body to investigate their homes, no actions will be initiated against them.
