Review : War Dogs | True story of two Gunrunners – War Dogs are howling today in the cinemas with all of their craziness and adventures. Starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller, Directed by Hangover Trilogy director, Todd Phillip and Written by Phillips, Jason Smilovic and Stephen Chin. This movie is inspired and based on an article by Guy Lawson in Rolling Stone that was further shaped into a book by Lawson named “Arms and the Dudes” which was previously also the name of the movie.
Based on a True Event, this film revolves around two guys Efraim Diveroli (Jonah Hill) and David Packouz (Miles Teller) who get reacquainted in their 20’s and starts to work together as arms dealers. Efraim finds a whole new world of Pentagon contracts just sitting there to be bid upon and he then recruits his friend into his new found business to be partners. They get a contract by U.S government to supply arms to their troops in Afghanistan.
The story is seen through David’s eyes, but it’s the other one who runs the show.
The two Gunrunners did an excellent job in this film. And what made them so good is that both of them are a polar opposite of each other, David being the average, regular, everyday guy, who has a baby arriving soon, works as a masseur; on the other hand is Efraim, An insane and fearless chap, who finds out about Pentagon contracts and sees business out of it. Although the film is very close to the original story, some scenes are dramatized like the duo driving through Baghdad, never took place. In some part in the middle of the movie, it is a bit slow, but the beginning and the ending makes up for it. Also, Bradley Cooper was there, even though he didn’t have a big part in this movie, his character was a very dark, a bit of creepy and mostly a frightening man which he pulled off very nicely.
