Plot of the Story
The protagonist of the series is Patrick Murray, who is 29-years-old, is a video game designer and lives in San Francisco with his friends Dom & Agustin. Dom is an aspiring restaurateur and Agustin is an artist’s assistant. Apart from being unlucky in love, Patrick lacks experience. His life took a new turn when he met a handsome barber who puts up in a Mission district of San Francisco and a new boss who again is handsome and charming but partnered. Dom is all engaged in setting up his new restaurant and is leaving no stone unturned for it. He seeks help from his roommate, Doris and in between, he gets unexpected help from a successful entrepreneur of San Francisco, Lynn. Agustin is struggling in his domestic life with his boyfriend Frank and is also struggling in his career due to some hindrances. Agustin’s liking for recreational substance abuse is yet another matter of a struggle for him.
Based on Michael Lannan’s short film named “Lorimer” which was released in the year 2011, a series was created which was premiered in January 2014 but ran only for two seasons in which 18 episodes were aired.
Why is a movie being made now?
Earlier on its launch, the series didn’t perform well as it could not deliver the expectations of the viewers. Basically, the series delineates the gay lifestyle. The best thing about the series was that it touched upon the ground reality, and the detailing of the lifestyle of the gays of Bay Area was very ordinary that is why it never drew the attention of the large audience which it deserved. Eventually, the launch of the series was canceled after running two seasons totaling 18 episodes and a bunch of things were left hanging in the air.
Now, to wrap things up- the directors and writers of the series are given an opportunity by the suits of the cable network to correct things. Hence the directors came up with a two-hour movie in order to finish everything on a high note. For the lovers of the series, this will be a mini-season thing or a compilation of four episodes.
